Could an abortion 11 years ago affect my fertility

By anonymous on 24/01/2013
I am 37 years old and recently I have noticed during my periods, more of my uterus lining appearing (thick gluey sticky like substance). I have only noticed this more over the last 2/3 periods and it worries me.
I am single but do desperately long to have a baby when I meet someone (having a baby is more important than meeting someone and getting married, but not an option due to my asian background.)
I had an abortion 11 years ago, in 2002, and I don't know if this will cause a problem when I do get pregnant. I want to be able to talk to someone about how fertile I am, or if I cannot get pregnant. I want to know if this discharge is a negative sign and I can't stop thinking about it as there does not seem to be any group/helpline for women like me. Please help!

It sounds as though you are worried that changes you have noticed may affect your ability to conceive. In relation to the discharge you are experiencing, I would suggest you see your GP and talk through your concerns. Your GP may suggest a blood test or swabs to check on these symptoms.
The NHS website has a section on fertility and you can do a self assessment using their questionaire.
