I was 29yrs old when I found out that I was pregnant. My boyfriend freaked, and without considering me he insisted that I have an abortion. The entire procedure is most horrific. It was the biggest mistake that I ever made. It’s been 9 yrs now since and my boyfriend is depressed and hates living. He regrets the decision that he made.I have asked the Lord for forgiveness but I do have my episodes of depressions and regret. For those of you who are pregnant, do NOT even consider an abortion. Have the baby and give him/her up for adoption if you do not want to keep baby.
Editor’s note: Thanks for telling us your thoughts. You imply that your boyfriend’s depression, as well as those periodic bouts you have yourself, are due to the abortion. It sounds as if neither of you have had the opportunity to resolve fully the problems created by what happened. It seems as if there is a great shadow over both of you, particularly your boyfriend. I believe that there is more for you both individually and together.
I want to encourage you to seek post-abortion support. Why don’t you both go to a local centre and talk to someone (together or separately), or ring the helpline or go onto Online Advisor? The first step is simply telling the story.
