I had to choose adoption beacause I am against abortion.

By anonymous on 07/03/2012
Hi, I am 14 nearly 15 years old. I got pregnant when I was 13 and due to being in care since I was 3 years old, I got told that I either get rid of it or give it up for adoption. I had to choose adoption because I am against abortion and I wouldn't be able to kill an unborn baby.

I had a beautiful baby boy

he weighted 4 pound 3. at 10am.
I had an open adoption and I get to see him every other weekend. He is beautiful and he is healthy. I do miss him so much. Social services and my family say I did the right thing. I knew I couldn't keep him because I had no money, and no where proper to live. I still live in a children's home and I leave when I'm 18 years old.
Giving my baby up was the hardest thing I have ever had to do but I still see him grow up and the adopted parents let me keep the name I chose for him. I hope my story has helped.

That must have been very hard for you to choose adoption but it was a very unselfish and courageous thing to do. Open adoption is becoming more common now, and it must be a comfort to feel that you are still part of your baby's life. Watching him grow up and seeing that he is happy and secure with his new family will reassure you that you made the right decision. If you feel that you need some support of someone to talk to about your feelings, many pregnancy centres offer post adoption support. Please ring the national helpline if you would like more information 0300 4000 999.
