I just found out I'm pregnant - I was excited but now I'm scared

I have just recently found out that I'm pregnant. At first, I was excited but my partner of 6 years does not think that a baby is a good idea at the moment as we are only 22 and we wanted to go travelling when I finish uni.

The other day I decided that I was keeping our baby as I could not go through with an abortion [read about abortion experiences].

I'm just so confused - I don't know what to do

I know we couldn't but now he is in such a mood with me and he got in such a state crying and stuff, and now I feel like I'm ruining his life and I'm just so confused.

If he wanted the baby I know I would keep it but I'm so scared. I just don't know what to do.

Finding out you have an unplanned pregnancy leaves you with a very big decision to have to make so I'm not surprised that you feel overwhelmed. It sounds as though your partner is in shock and panicking about the changes that this decision could make to your lives. It's really important that you take time to think it through. Your decision to keep the baby seemed to come from a heart response and you felt that your instincts and conscience were telling you abortion would be a very difficult thing for you to choose. These are important things to consider and you should not be pressurised by your partner's emotions. Think through your reasons for considering abortion such as your plans to travel. How important is that to you and is it something you could do at a later stage? Would you still enjoy travelling if you knew you had chosen abortion in order to do it? How would you feel if you have an abortion and then your travel plans don't work out? These are all questions that could help you as you think this through.
