A medical abortion at 10 weeks and 6 days.

By anonymous on 26/06/2015

I found out I was pregnant at 9 and 1/2 weeks, due to health problems and already having a 12 month old baby me and my partner both decided that the time was not right to have another baby so we chose to terminate which was a very hard decision.

I went in for my first visit when the nurses explained everything and made sure that I wanted to go ahead ahead with the termination. I returned to the hospital a week later on the Tuesday and was given my first tablet which blocks the hormones. I felt fine apart from the usual nausea which I had suffered for a few weeks before.

I then returned on the Thursday the same week at 9am and had the four further tablets which are inserted in the vagina. The pain was bearable, I walked around as much as possible as it helps things progress. At 11:30 I went for a twenty minute walk around the hospital and then returned to my private room, as I sat down I felt a little drop in my stomach to which I had a desperate need to go for a wee. As soon as I sat down I felt a large gush and little jelly like wobble and it was out. I didn't look as I was advised not to as I was 10 weeks and 6 days when it was terminated. The pain continued but again was bearable and 20 minutes later I had another large wee (more like water). A little bleeding followed and was kept in for another hour to check on my bleeding etc and I was leaving hospital by 3pm. I was dreading the day but it was different than I had ever imagined. The pain has now settled after a day and the bleeding has nearly stopped.
