This is the worst thing in my life.

By anonymous on 02/09/2008
This is the worst thing in my life. I’m 12 years old, doing well at school getting on with my parents, but the worst thing of all is I’m PREGNANT. I think I’m about 6 months. I haven’t told anyone and scared I haven’t got a bump and only had a bit of nausea. My parents don’t suss anything, which is weird for my mum. What can I do? Please help.

Editor’s note: Thanks for writing in…You don’t say what makes you think you’re pregnant, but the first thing you need to do is tell a trusted adult. However scary it may seem, your mum may be the best person to tell at this stage. If not, then a teacher or youth worker, as soon as possible. You will probably need to have a pregnancy test and medical attention if it is positive. Being under 16, and then only 12, your parents or other trusted adult, or even someone in authority may want to know how you came to be pregnant, if that is the case. It is better to be brave and truthful about it all now, rather than wait until there is an even greater or more urgent problem. You can ring our helpline on 0300 4000 999 to talk with someone about your situation, or you can ring Childline on 0800 1111. Just pick up the phone and tell someone you trust now.
