Hey, everyone. I am 17 and I think I am pregnant.

Hey, everyone. I am 17 and I think I am pregnant. I'm not scared about the pregnancy or labour or anything like that - all that I can handle. The one thing I can't do is tell my parents. I am absolutely TERRIFIED to tell my parents. I come from a very religious family but I don't agree with all their views (obviously) and I’m not sure how to tell them I will keep the baby if I am... no doubt about that. I know I will have plenty of support even if my parents don’t support me. I would like to talk to someone else who is my age and pregnant...

Editor’s note: Thanks for writing in…The very first thing you need to do is have a pregnancy test to confirm a pregnancy. There’s no point going through all this anxiety if you’re not pregnant. It would be a good idea for you to visit your nearest centre to have a test done – that way, you’ll have someone to talk to about your situation as well. You don’t sound too sure about what you will do if you are pregnant, and you will have the opportunity to consider all your options and how you feel about them on a head and a heart level.

Your parents may be disappointed, and even angry about what has happened, but you have to remember is that a lot of their pain comes from their dreams for you being disappointed, rather than in you yourself. It would help you to have support in place before you tell them and a pregnancy centre can do that for you, so get in touch with your nearest one as soon as you can. They may also be able to put you in touch with someone in a similar situation. We’ll be thinking of you.
